Maresme
The region where we live and where the venue is located; charming coastal towns make for a relaxed stay.
About the vibe:
The Maresme region surrounds the venue and is where we currently live—offering coastal charm with a relaxed, local feel. Picture gentle sea breezes, stunning sunsets over the Mediterranean, and a wonderful atmosphere that's especially great for (young) families.
How to get around:
Depending on your plans, we recommend flying into Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) and taking the train to your accommodation. Travel time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on where you stay. There is a train line running along the coast, making many towns easily accessible, and the area offers beautiful coastal paths for walking. If you prefer more flexibility, renting a car is a great option, in which case you might consider flying into either Barcelona (BCN) or Girona (GRO) airports.
Where to stay:
Mataro – well connected by train to Barcelona and close to the venue.
Distance to the venue:
The Maresme region surrounds the venue, with most accommodations just a 10 to 30-minute taxi or drive away.
What to do:
Spend time on the beach and immerse yourself in the beautiful nature around — there are many wonderful hikes (please ask us if you're interested!). Explore cute local shops in the seaside towns and enjoy sunset cocktails with breathtaking sea views.
Restaurant recommendations:
- Handicap 1 — Jasja & Renske's favorite restaurant near their home, offering a changing 3-course menu including a drink for €25.
- Al Duomo — If you love Italian food, this is the place to go!
- Cuina Sant Pau — A bit fancy but truly worth it if you're looking for a special night out.
- Gas Social Club — Relaxed vibes with great food and drinks.
Personal note:
There are seven golf and pitch & putt courses in the Maresme area. If you enjoy golf, please feel free to reach out to Jasja — we'd love to arrange a round together!
